BMD was selected to help Netflix refresh their visual identity. With a global membership now reaching 130 million viewers, Netflix needed to increase their brand flexibility to meet its growing needs. Building upon the foundation of their card-stack system, BMD drew from the vast wealth of Netflix’s streaming content and brand tools to expand and energize their visual identity.

The resulting system expanded the range of Netflix-branded cards by adding new elements derived from Netflix’s proprietary typeface and distinctive UI elements. It also created new sets of content-branded cards by extracting the titles, colors, and textures of a particular show. This allows Netflix to modulate the volumes of both its brand and content.

As a member of the design team and lead animator, I aided in developing the new system, while directing and executing all animation components of the project.
